What’s New in 2012 Volume 2

Purpose

This topic provides an overview of the new functionalities and components introduced with the Ultimate UI for Windows Forms 2012 Volume 2 release.

CLR 4 – Only Support

With the 2012 Volume 2 release, all Ultimate UI for Windows Forms controls and components are only compiled against the Common Language Runtime (CLR) 4. Controls and components are no longer supported in earlier versions of the CLR (for example, 2, 3).

Feature Description

Ability to Record and Replay with Infragistics Controls in Coded UI Test

With the release of Infragistics 2012.2, many of the Ultimate UI for Windows Forms controls now participate with the Microsoft® Coded UI Test framework to allow recording and replaying automated tests.

Infragistics Syntax Parsing Engine

Feature Description

Parsing

The parsing feature exposes a syntax tree to allow for analysis of the text in a document according to a specified language.

Error Reporting

This gives the user visual cues that the text does not conform to the syntax rules of the language.

Custom language support

Supports Custom languages, defined in an Extended Backus-Naur Form (EBNF).

Sample Purpose

Custom Language Syntax Parsing

This sample demonstrates parsing and highlighting text in a RichTextBox and a TreeControl according to the rules of a custom-defined language (XML).

XamSyntaxEditor Studio in Windows Forms

This sample uses a XamSyntaxEditor (WPF) control in a Windows Form. The XamSytaxEditor uses the Infragistics Syntax Parsing Engine to perform its parsing, error reporting and custom language functions.

Feature Description

Support for undo/redo functionality available in most applications.

The Infragistics Undo/Redo Framework maintains operations history, executes Undo/Redo operations, and may group several operations into one single history item. Provides commands for invoking an undo/redo operation from within your UI.

By default, the Infragistics Undo/Redo Framework is not available; however, it is quickly and easily implemented.

Ability to resize scrollbars and scrollbar buttons on Infragistics controls.

With the release of Infragistics 2012.2, you can resize the scrollbars and scrollbar buttons on Ultimate UI for Windows Forms controls. This can be accomplished either individually or collectively, thus making it much easier to scroll controls on touch screen devices.
